I WON AGAIN

I am on a roll. I went to one of my LQSs and they were having a special day. There was a lady having a pampered chef party so there was good food. They were also giving away door prizes. And I won a quilt book. It has some interesting patterns that I would really like to try.

It has one very interesting block I want to try. It is made with flying geese.

I am leaving tomorrow for a quilting retreat. I am getting very nervous. I haven't been away from home by myself in about 30 years. Plus I really don't know anyone. I meet one lady on a Saturday sew day. I did like her very much. Another lady that is supposed to be there I know from some Thimbleberries meetings. She is very nice too but I can never remember her name. We never really introduced each other at the meetings. But I know everyone has a common interest in quilting. So it has to be fun.

DH will be staying home with the dogs. I thought he might go someplace on his bike. The weather is too iffy.

I WON!!

Every shop in the Shop Hop I went on had door prizes worth $75.00. I won!! I was very pleased with my basket.

The basket came from "Quilts and Gifts" and she put a magazine in with their name on it. There was also 2 patterns, Thangles, 4 fqs, an emory board, a bottle of Best Press and 2 charm packs.
I was quite impressed. And for once I didn't over spend. I only bought what I needed to finish some projects.

#44

Today is our 44th wedding anniversary. I can not believe it's been that long. Seems like yesterday. I guess we will celebrate tomorrow. He gets home from Myrtle Beach then.

I guess he had beautiful weather. In the 80s everyday but today and it was in the 60s. Poor thing. It was 22 this morning when I got up to take Sara to her Dr. appointment.

It was easier for her to come spend the night so she could get an early appointment. She didn't miss so much school then. Only one period. They live 45 minutes away.

I did get some sewing done this week. Not as much as I wanted but I was pretty busy. The time went really fast. I should get more done tomorrow before he gets home.

Time with Jonathan

Today after church Jonathan came home with me. Everyone else had something to do before they came down so it was just the 2 of us.

We went to get a phillysteak sandwich for lunch. It is one of his favorite sandwiches. I really enjoyed my time with him. He came in second yesterday at his wrestling invitational. He lost in overtime. He told me it was a good thing I wasn't there because it would have been hard for me to see him go into overtime. He knows I get a little excited. LOL

Since DH is gone Jonathan thought he would be like Grandpa.

This picture is just like the one I took of DH several months ago.

I guess he didn't want me to miss DH too much.

Tomorrow I have to sew. I am way behind.

Shop Hop

I went on part of the Shop Hop today all by myself. My quilting buddies pooped out on me. I didn't buy much. I got a fq, fabric for another border on a Saturday Sampler. This will make it king size. That is if I ever get it done. Then I bought some homespuns on sale for 50% off to make another raggy shaggy. I only have 2 more shops to do then I will be done.

DH left this morning for Myrtle Beach. He said the weather was wonderful. He will be gone for a whole week. Right now that sounds wonderful, but in a few days I will be very lonely. The dogs are already missing him. They haven't hardly moved all evening.

Great Discussion

Over on my doll swap thread we had a discussion on what you consider an art quilt. When I have signed up for swaps I have always said I did not want "artsy quilts". Someone on the thread asked what we considered "artsy". The answers really surprised me. I do like most art quilts. The only ones I do not like are the abstract ones. I love the other art quilts like the one Marianne sent me. I have to reword my preferences.

Most of the swappers felt the same way as I did and have changed their preferences.

Things have sure been busy around here.

Sunday all the kids were here. DH made prime rib in the weber kettle. That usually brings in everyone. All but 2 were here. It is fun to have all the grandkids get together. They have so much fun together. But it sure get loud!!!

Monday and Tuesday Jonathan had wrestling matches. They were both good matches and he won. He has one tomorrow night too. It will be longer since it will be against 3 schools. I sure do enjoy watching him wrestle. Our youngest son Jeff was a wrestler in high school and he was fun to watch too.

Tonight we had dinner with friends from DH's golf outing. He is leaving Friday for Myrtle Beach. We took his bags over because one of the guys is driving. He takes the bags for everyone that is flying. That way they know they won't get lost. It sure was fun to sit and visit.

Maybe with him gone for a week I will get some sewing done. Wouldn't that be nice!!!
