Trick or Treat

My grandson Isaac is 8 and has never been Trick or Treating. They live out in the country and just never was a thing for them. His older brother and sister have only done it a couple times. Anyway he was coming in to spend the night and I asked if he wanted to go with his cousins. He was thrilled. This is our future President Isaac.

He meet the some of the other grandkids. Karly did not want to be a cow.
This is before she is a cow. This is while she is getting to be a cow.

She still wasn't to happy till she realized she got candy.
Chloe was a baby.

Amy was a dice.

And so was her sister Katie. They are quite a pair.

They are all ready to go.

You had to follow a path through a graveyard to get to these people's backyard. Katie was terrified. The guy in black is real the one in red is not. They really had a nice setup. The guy in black took his mask off so Katie could see who he was.

Back to Grandma's house to look at his loot. He really enjoyed himself.

Now I have to go sew about 15 tumbling blocks before my class tomorrow. I sure don't feel like doing it. I am tired!!
These are what I have done so far. The block on the right is for my BOM that I have to have turn in tomorrow.
Back to work.

Doll Quilt Done

I am in a doll swap on about.com. I just got mine mailed to a swapper in Green Bay WI. I named mine "Butterscotch Ripple". I did not like it at first but kept sewing along. After awhile it grew on me and by the time the border was on I really liked it.

Now I have to finish my ALQS and get it into the mail. It will be completely different.

I'm Back

It has been awhile since I last posted but seems like yesterday. Time sure gets away from you.

Last time I posted was after the shop hop. DH and I finished the hop on Saturday on our way to Myrtle Beach. We stayed in a really nice condo that was about a mile from the beach. The weather was sunny and in the 80's everyday except one.

The day it rained we drove to a couple quilt shops. It is very interesting the quilts and fabric there compared to here. We are talking about going down for a month this winter and if we do I know I will enjoy visiting their shops.

We got home late Sunday night. All was well with the dogs and house. My daughter and grandkids took very good care of everything.

My LQS called and said I won 2 prizes on the shop hop. That made me very happy. One shop had a jar of candy corn and you had to guess how many were in the jar.

I guessed 356 and there were 357. I just grabbed a number. Did not even look at the jar. I got the jar, candy and a $25.00 gift certificate. That was nice. DH went out and got some peanuts.

I also won a chicken pattern and 5 batik fat quarters from another shop. It was soooo much fun to win something. My GF won something too but didn't like it very much.

The rest of the week I made my doll quilt for the swap on About.com. It has to be mailed by October 31. I did not want to be late because I am the hostess and that wouldn't look very good. It is almost done. I will post a picture tomorrow.

Shop Hop Day

I went shop hopping with 2 friends today. We had a really good time. There is a total of 9 shops in the hop. We went to 4 of them.Found a couple new shops that are really nice. Came home and hubby took me to 2 more. We went on the motorcycle because it was such a pretty day. I like riding in the fall.
Tomorrow we will hit the other 3 shops as we head out to Myrtle Beach. They are sort of on our way.
It sure would be nice to win the grand prize. A $50.00 gift certificate from each shop. That would be heaven!!!

A Good Day

Yesterday I cleaned my sewing room so today I could sew!! It is much better to sew in a clean room. I know it doesn't stay that way very long. I just had to many projects out.

So I made 2 birthday blocks for a swap on about.com. This one is for Becca. I think it really turned out pretty.

This one is for Faye. She wanted a pastel basket on point.

It feels good to get them off into the mail. They were supposed to be for September. Just a little late.
I also finished quilting and sewing the binding on a mini I started last year. We are getting ready to go to Myrtle Beach on Saturday. I plan on taking some stuff to work on riding in the car. I am sewing the binding on a couple other quilts tomorrow.

Race Day!!

Today we went to see our grandson Jonathan run his cross country meet. He raced in a BIG invitational in Portage MI. We drove 2 hours there and back to see him race for 8:42 minutes. Only saw him at beginning, 2 times middle and at the end. He came in 8th place out of around 500 middle school boys. He did great!!! He has had a tough year because he is in a growing spurt and it is hard on his muscles. He just loves to run and I love to watch him.

This is Grandpa and our granddaughter Sara before the meet.

After the race we stopped on the way home in Shipshewana for a late lunch. It was an Amish style restaurant. They have quilts decorating their walls. One kept calling to me so I took it's picture. I will try to make one like it myself if I can figure out the easiest way to do it.
Isn't it pretty? It was all hand quilted. I just love the colors.

I also stopped at a LQS while there and picked up a few 30's prints. Mostly for borders and backgrounds.

All in all it was a good day!!

My First Post

Yeah this is exciting. I have been working on my blog for about a month. Finally I have the courage to post.

I finished up my Shop Hop today. It was just a little one with 6 shops. I bought some Moda "For a Challenge" fabric.

It is so pretty. Don't know what I will do with it yet. It will probably be cut in large squares so I don't lose the birds.
I turned in my finished BOM so I could get my new ones. This was the first month. I couldn't decide on which color option so I did both.
