Marianne's Quilt

I got my doll quilt from Marianne a couple weeks ago but hadn't taken a picture. She is from The Netherlands and does beautiful work. I feel so lucky to get one of hers.

She made the bricks in the house herself. Didn't use brick fabric. I never would have thought of doing that. I learn so much from receiving these little quilts.

Isn't that clever. Thanks Marianne I love it.

Another Pin

We went to see Jonathan wrestle again tonight. I was Jonathan's cross country coach that we used to drive 45 minutes each way to see him run for 6 to 7 minutes. Now we are driving to see him for 15 seconds. Melissa heard me and told Jonathan. He pinned his guy in 24 seconds tonight. Jonathan came up to us afterwards and told us we wanted to give us a little more for coming. LOL.

We started walking again. Last year we walked all winter long. Then some how we just sort of fell off. It was nice to pick it back up again. I think we felt so much better. We didn't go so far today because the wind was so strong. The wind chill was 0. But we did walk some.

I bought a new pair of walking shoes but after I got them home they did not feel quite right so I am taking them back.

More on my birthday

I said I would post more about my birthday. I am a member of the yahoo group "Quilting in Indiana". I signed up to be in a birthday fat quarter exchange. Boy was that fun. It was so much fun to get the mail. The selection they sent was wonderful. I put down I liked red, blues, purple and brights. These are the ones I received.

During your birthday month Quilts & Gifts gives you a discount of 50% of your age. I went there and really had a ball. The neatest thing Moda just came out with is Turnovers. This is the first time I had ever seen them so naturally I had to buy some.

I just think they are so cute. Don't have any idea what I am going to do with them yet.

Today we picked Sara up from school and took her for her TMJ appointment. She got fitted for her appliance. She can't play her saxophone for awhile. It makes her muscles in her jaw really sore and then gives her headaches. Maybe this will help her. It sure has helped mine. We also did a little shopping then took her home.

Jonathan had another wrestling match. He called to say he pinned his guy in 15 seconds.

More later.

Happy Valentines Day

Boy was I surprised! I had a quilting class today. When I got home my DH had made me a Valentine and got me a box of DeBrand's turtles. My favorite candy. He hasn't done anything like that for a long time. I really liked it. Not bad for being married for almost 44 years.

Our son and daughter in law called and asked us to go out to supper with them. Lyndsey agreed to watch the 4 little ones. It was really nice to go out with them and no kids. We actually got to talk. They came back to the house and sit and talked some more. Sometimes just adults is really fun too.

I had a really fun class. It was raw edge applique which I have not done very much of. It was fun till I started putting it all down and we were running out of time. When I feel rushed I get very nervous and overwhelmed. But I got it tacked down enough to get it home. Now I can play with it.

Some of the pieces are just laying there and not in place. I still have some stems and leaves to put in it. It was fun to do and I might try it again.

Old Friends

Yesterday we made a trip back home. The father of one of John's best friends died so we went to the funeral home. John had not seen Ronnie in about 36 years. Needless to say everyone was very surprised to see us. It was funny Ronnie and John started talking like had been 2 weeks instead of 36 years.

We also visited with one of my best friends Sarah. It was great and wish I had more time.

Jonathan had his first wrestling match yesterday too. He was so excited. He called last Sunday to tell me it was a home meet. I knew then that he was pumped up and wanted us to be there. He did really good and pinned his guy.

My Birthday

I have lots to tell you about my birthday. I will do it over several posts. I don't want you to go asleep reading.

I got a sewing cabinet. It is so nice. I am waiting for the insert to fit my machine. It will be nice to be able to sew flat instead of up hill.

Don't let this fool you. My sewing room is not this neat. I took everything out of the room and dumped it. Now I have to go back and put everything away. Man I hate doing that. I have too many projects out.

I would have put everything back already but came down with a nasty cold. I am just starting to feel better. We are going to be gone tomorrow so I guess Friday will be clean up day.

I am behind on my quilt in a bag I need to make for Dee. I plan on working on that Monday. My doll swap on about.com is over and I am taking a little time out before the starting the next one. Maybe I can get caught up on some projects.

If anyone is interested the next doll swap will be Spring Fling. We sure had some pretty quilts on the Winter Wonders swap. I am going to try to post some pictures. I should post in the next couple weeks.

More about my birthday tomorrow.

Well I am back. I will catch you up some.

Lucas had his 10th birthday. He told me the other day that he is right in the middle of all the grandkids. There are 5 older and 5 younger. He had been telling us for a long time that he wants to be a hockey player. But he didn't know how to ice skate. I kept asking him how he could play hockey if he didn't know how to skate. I didn't care because he was going to be a hockey player. Jeff took him out right after Christmas to learn to skate and he is a natural. In order to be on any teams he has to take some lessons so they signed him up. He is on his way.

Isaac on the left, Lucas on the rightNext post I will fill you in on my birthday. It was on a Saturday and I stretched it out for a whole weekend. It was lots of fun.

Long time no posts

It has been awhile since I posted. Time sure can get away from you. And I have lots of stuff to say. I will try to spread it out.

Rhonda at Quilting in Indiana is having a give away. You can go here and sign up for her pretty fat quarters. You will stand a good chance because I never win anything.
